Description

he Dean of the School of Nursing and Emergency Management is an SDA administrative leadership position that serves the students, faculty, and staff of both departments. This position reports to the College's Academic Dean and is responsible for overall leadership, development, direction, and administration of all aspects of the programs.

  • Recruits new faculty and submits recommendations to Human Resources and the President’s Cabinet.
  • Orients, mentors, and evaluates faculty.
  • Ensures compliance with CA BRN faculty requirements.
  • Collaborates with Subject Matter Experts and ensures they have the support through continuing education required to meet that standard (Psych, Pedi, OB, Geriatrics).
  • Prepares course schedules and faculty assignments each term.
  • Prepare, manage and report on budgets.
  • Collaborates with the Human Resources Department on personnel issues.
  • Collaborates and plans with directors for student orientation, advising, and timely processing of concerns.
  • Maintains and updates all program handbooks in collaboration with directors and SAIC
  • Meets with students as needed to discuss concerns, grievance issues, and other issues.
  • Ensures EPSLOs are evaluated yearly through end-of-program reporting
  • Serves as an academic instructor as needed.
  • Ex-officio member of range of committees
  • Ensures compliance with all program types, locations, and clinical settings.
  • Evaluates lab and practicum settings to ensure EPSLOs are met
  • Evaluate off-campus programs and ensure compliance with BRN standards for all off-campus laboratory learning environments.
  • Plans, implements, and measures student programs and services that meet the goals of the College
  • Provides oversight for evaluating and ensuring quality in all aspects of the Nursing and Emergency Management programs.
  • Conducts and participates in program reviews, enrollment projections, and program assessments
  • Assesses job placement
  • Conducts graduate exit surveys and analyzes results
  • Follows licensure and completion rates for the ASN programs
  • Evaluates end-of-program learning outcomes as related to course objects/assignments and benchmarks.
  • Assess standardized exams through ATI for student performance and achievements to ensure NCLEX readiness.
  • Provides leadership for students, faculty, and staff in ensuring that the Nursing and Emergency Management programs provide high-quality academics and student services.
  • Is the Director for the CA Board of Nursing and is the Nurse administrator of the program.
  • Collaborates with College administration (i.e., Enrollment, Alumni & Advancement, etc.) in business development initiatives.
  • Builds and nurtures stakeholder relationships in the greater Napa Valley community.
Required Experience

The candidate will hold educational qualifications as required by the governing organization(CA BRN), regulatory bodies, and certification as applicable, and is experientially qualified forthe assigned roles and responsibilities.

  • Terminal degree (i.e. DNP/PhD/EdD)
  • Currently licensed as a California Registered Nurse
  • 2-4 years of practical nursing experience.

Desirable Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of experience in clinical nursing administration, nursing education, or any combination of such experience, preferably in a baccalaureate degree program or higher, ability to demonstrate evidence of knowledge and skills related to nursing education, teaching adults, teaching methodology, curriculum development and curriculum evaluation
