Ithaca SDA School has an opening for an upper grades teacher for grades 5-8. The school has recently expanded to be a two teacher school. Ithaca is a quaint town situated 45 miles north of Lansing, 25 miles southeast of Great Lakes Adventist Academy, and only 90 minutes from beautiful Camp AuSable in Grayling. It has two large classrooms, a gymnasium that is attached to the church, a greenhouse and expansive playground. Ithaca School is on the 4-Day Student Week schedule allowing a full day for teacher preparation and planning on the fifth work day.
The multi-grade teacher is organized, establishes and maintains classroom guidelines in accordance with school policies, holds students to high standards of academics, character, and Christ-like behavior while being flexible and nurturing to each student's individual circumstances and needs. This teacher has a passion for inspiring young minds and leading students in their walk with Christ.
The ideal candidate will be an active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in good and regular standing, with a willingness to model Adventist beliefs, traditional Adventist lifestyle values and standards. They hold a current SDA teaching certification/credentials. Experience with multi-grade teaching and learners with diverse needs is desirable. A passion for educating students through nature and gardening is helpful with our agricultural program.
