Description

The Women’s Residence Hall Dean – Andre Hall is a live-in professional responsible for the daily operation and overall well-being of students in a women's residence hall. This role is multifaceted—requiring administrative leadership, crisis response, mentoring, and the creation of a safe, welcoming environment that supports academic success, personal development, and community engagement. The Dean also fosters a spiritually grounded environment that encourages students to grow in their relationship with God and their sense of purpose.

Support & Crisis Management

  • Serve as a first-responder Student and primary contact for students experiencing emotional, social, and behavioral challenges, including depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, trauma, or eating disorders.
  • Conduct timely, compassionate interventions and make referrals to mental health professionals when appropriate.
  • Partner with campus departments such as Counseling Services, Campus Safety, and Academic Success to coordinate wraparound care.
  • Supervise and participate with staff in the nurturing and holding students accountable to expectations including substance abuse, overnight leave and curfew guidelines, worship attendance, and other general citizenship areas.
  • Maintain detailed, confidential documentation in accordance with college protocol and FERPA guidelines.

Community Leadership & Engagement

  • Foster a community atmosphere rooted in respect, accountability, spiritual growth, and character development.
  • Organize programs that support students’ emotional, spiritual, social, and educational development.
  • Uphold and enforce campus policies through a student-centered, educational approach to discipline.
  • Maintain high visibility and availability in the residence hall, including assigned evening and weekend rotations.
  • Willingness to serve on various college committees as requested by the Director of Residential Life.

Staff Supervision & Development

  • Recruit, train, supervise, and mentor a team of Residence Hall Assistants and Desk Receptionists.
  • Conduct weekly team meetings, one-on-one mentorship sessions, and ongoing performance evaluations.
  • Support professional growth and accountability within the student leadership team.

Administrative & Operational Oversight

  • Manage residence hall budget, purchasing, and expenditures with fiscal responsibility.
  • Coordinate facility needs, repairs, and cleanliness in collaboration with Facilities and Custodial Services.
  • Monitor room readiness, furniture inventory, and safety equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with college policies, safety procedures, and fire/emergency protocols.

 

Required Experience

 EDUCATION 

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree in student development, Counseling, Youth Ministry, or related field strongly preferred.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in residence life, youth ministry, counseling, or student support (5+ years preferred).
  • Prior experience as an Academy or College Dean, including supervision of student staff, is highly valued.

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • High emotional intelligence and the ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
  • Deep understanding of the developmental, spiritual, and mental health needs of college-aged students.
  • Proficient in conflict resolution, crisis management, and policy enforcement.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills, with attention to detail in record-keeping and scheduling.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Public speaking skills for presenting workshops, worships, or group sessions.
  • Comfortable navigating complex interpersonal situations with empathy, fairness, and discretion.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
  • Familiarity with Zoom or Microsoft Teams for communication.
