Palisades Christian Academy is seeking a long-term substitute teacher for our second-grade classroom for first semester of 2025-2026, potentially starting as early as our back-to-school open house on August 21. Duties include, but are not limited to, coordinating with the permanent teacher to establish classroom procedures, routines, and expectations; planning and executing units, lessons, and activities that align with the permanent teacher's overall curriculum plan for the year; classroom management and instruction; grading and recording using Jupiter SIS; attending staff meetings; and communicating with classroom parents.

Palisades Christian Academy is a K-10 SDA school with approximately 200 students, 12 full-time teachers (including a full-time music teacher and P.E. teacher), a principal and vice principal, and several teacher's aides and other support staff. We are located in Spokane, Washington, in the lovely Inland Northwest. We are blessed with a beautiful campus, a robust school program, and a supportive constituency.

Minimum qualifications: be at least 20 years of age, have a college degree (education majors who have completed all graduation requirements except their student teaching would also be considered), be a member of the SDA church in good standing, have or be able to obtain the legal right to work in the US before starting employment, pass background check, have or obtain current CPR/First Aid certification (training provided at PCA each fall if needed)

Preferred qualifications: bachelor's degree or higher in education or related field; NAD teaching certificate; teaching experience, preferably in lower elementary grades; effective classroom management; lesson-planning experience
