The Doctor of Physical Therapy Program Director (PD) provides effective leadership for the program, oversees all aspects of the DPT program, including responsibility for communication, program assessment and planning, fiscal management, and faculty evaluation/professional development. The PD also provides effective curriculum development, accreditation, student recruitment, and ensures program compliance standards with the Commission on Accreditation of Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).

  • Curriculum development and assessment
  • Maintain accreditation standards and over see program accreditation activities
  • Manage faculty and staff recruitment, evaluation, and retention
  • Develop faculty and support their teaching, scholarship, and service priorities
  • Establish partnerships for clinical education and support the director of clinical education to ensure ongoing excellence in clinical placements
  • Manage program budget, including short-term and long-term planning

Required Experience
  • Must hold an active, unencumbered PT license in any United States jurisdiction and is in compliance with the practice act in the jurisdiction where the program is located
  • Has earned an academic doctoral degree (i.e., PhD, DSc, EdD, etc.) or previous CAPTE-granted exemption
  • Minimum of six years of full-time higher education experience with a minimum of three years of full-time experience as a core faculty member in a CAPTE-accredited entry-level physical therapist education program
  • Has experience/professional development/education in administration, management, and leadership
  • Professional development and/or education in all of the following: educational theory, methodology, instructional design, student evaluation, and outcome assessment
  • Experience in fiscal management
