Mountain View Academy seeks a qualified high school Music teacher to join our school family.  As the Music Teacher, lead the school’s choral and instrumental music program.  The program includes a general choir, a select choir, and a band.  The school plans to add handbells in the future.  Additional roles may consist of teaching several non-music classes, depending on the teacher’s certifications and interests. 

The San Francisco Bay Area is home to the Mountain View Academy campus, uniquely located on a city block within walking distance of downtown Mountain View, CA.  This setting offers numerous public transportation options, providing easy access to various locations throughout the Bay Area.  MVA recently celebrated its 100th year of providing Christian education in the Bay Area.  Our student body reflects the vibrancy and diversity of our community.  The MVA Music teacher plays an active role in our local Seventh-day Adventist community, scheduling church visits throughout the year to some of our 20 constituent churches.  The Music Department will also connect with the local elementary schools in the Bay Area on a rotating basis.

We seek applications from individuals who are passionate about guiding students into a relationship with Jesus alongside their colleagues, are qualified to teach music in a way that energizes students, and are willing to work with a professional teaching team in curricular development and classroom techniques.  Candidates will be dedicated to the mission of Adventist Education, embrace the opportunity to work in a culturally diverse area, and enjoy engaging with high school students and their parents in a goal- and mission-oriented academic environment.  Applicants must be active Seventh-day Adventist church members eligible to work in the United States.  (Hold a current work visa and be a resident of the US if not a US citizen.) 

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications: 

• Holds or is qualified to receive NAD teaching certification, Basic, Standard, or Professional, with a Secondary Endorsement in Mathematics
• Experience and willingness to provide spiritual leadership
• Practice good classroom management skills
• Comfortable working with current and emerging education and communication technologies (including Google Education programs and FACTS/RenWeb)
• A team player
• Maintains a spiritual presence and commitment
• Have a passion for the development of young people
• Familiar with secondary math curriculum
• Possesses the skills of organization, follow-through, and communication

Preferred Additional Qualifications:

• Additional endorsement and willingness to teach as needed
• 3+ years teaching in an SDA educational institution,
• Being bilingual in English and Spanish would be a plus

This 10-month salaried teaching position would be in effect August 7, 2025 through June 11, 2026 .  Based on North American Division certification, experience, and area cost of living allowance, the salary range is $68,014 to $84,230 and is divided into 12 monthly payments.
