Rivergate Adventist Elementary School is seeking a dedicated Christ-centered 3rd & 4th grade teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. Rivergate is a preschool - 8th grade school located in Gladstone, OR next to the Oregon Conference's Gladstone campus. It has a dedicated team of teachers and support staff committed to creating a solid spiritual and academic foundation for Rivergate students. Rivergate's goal is for each student to lean into Christ, lead with compassion and live with confidence. 

A successful candidate will be a vibrant spiritual teacher who is intentional in maximizing the full potential in every student. They must be willing to build strong relationships with their students, parents, fellow teachers, and the community. The candidate must be an innovative and creative teacher with experience in standards-based teaching and learning. 

Job Summary:

Teaching students assigned subjects. This includes classroom management, assignment development, grading, student communication, parent communication, and ensuring students have the opportunity to learn in a safe environment. As an Adventist school, we expect that our staff with uphold Adventist values and model their relationship with Jesus at school. 

Instruction and Planning:

  • Use lesson objectives from the textbooks and standards to develop lesson plans that provide students with opportunities to learn, practice, demonstrate their knowledge, and relearn as needed. 
  • Submit lesson plans to the principal weekly and answer questions about content.
  • Be prepared for class each day when the class starts. 
  • Grade assignments and report grades to students, parents, and admin by entering grades on TeacherEase at a minimum of once a week. 

Student Relations:

  • Develop a caring relationship with students that facilitates their learning, personal growth, and spiritual development.
  • Follow Rivergate Restorative Practices strategies and protocol.
  • Approach students, families, and coworkers with a broad mind and a large heart.
  • Guard the dignity and fragility of every student through my words and actions.
  • Allow students the freedom to express their views and provide grace-filled consideration of their opinions.
  • Practice the right of equality for opportunity to all according to their ability, without discrimination on account of race, sex, religion, or social antecedents. 
  • Not reveal any confidential information that may come to my knowledge during my course of work. 

Communication:

  • Work collaboratively as an encouraging team player with my colleagues in service.
  • Honor the lines of authority and the duties and responsibilities assigned to other staff members and the functions of administrators. 
  • Communicate any classroom problems with the administration. 
  • Respond to student and parent emails within 72 hours. 

Professional Ethics:

  • Practice my teaching profession as a sacred calling.
  • Commit myself as the hands and feet of Jesus, to protect, serve, and minister to every student placed in my care, to the best of my ability. 
  • Remain committed to professional growth and strive for excellence in teaching methods and techniques. 

School-wide Expectations:

  • Incorporate and honor the aims and ideals of the Seventh-day Adventist School system within my instruction and daily schedule with students through a focus on the gospel commission of sharing the love of Jesus Christ. 
  • Live a lifestyle that incorporates principles and practices consistent with those associated with active membership in the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
  • Participate in the activities and programs sponsored by the school and accept and fulfill such responsibilities as may be assigned.

Required Experience
  • Must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Must hold or be working toward NAD certification.
  • Must have the legal right to work and reside in the United States and provide evidence of that right if employed.
