Nursing & Emergency Management Clinical Placement Liaison

Description

Summary: Responsible for coordinating clinical placements for all NHS programs.  This includes securing, planning, organizing, and overseeing the placement of nursing students in contracted health care settings.  Coordinates with lead clinical faculty to obtain the required documentation, clinical clearance, and necessary onboarding for each nursing student specific to facility requirements.  Acts as a liaison with designated student placement liaisons to secure clinical placements and build collaborative partnerships.  Track and maintain clinical clearance for all students and faculty.  Maintains all centralized clinical placement software programs.

Clinical Coordinator Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinates and facilitates lead faculty requests of clinical placements for all NHS students
  • Ensures all correspondence with clinical agencies is completed each quarter
  • PUC Liaison to CastleBranch (clinical tracking program), updating rosters each quarter
  • Orient new nursing cohort and faculty member to CastleBranch and maintain clinical clearance throughout program and/or employment
  • Responsible for ensuring all students and faculty are clinically clear, including, but not limited to: immunizations, CPR certifications, licensure, HealthStream modules, and agency orientation
  • Draft clinical clearance attestation letters for department chair approval 
  • Seek new placements & opportunities (suitable for achievement of SLO’s) as needed
  • Monitor clinical placements for approvals/denials
  • Troubleshoot clinical placement issues
  • Re-schedule clinical placements as needed
  • Assist with clinical onboarding and facility orientation of new faculty
  • Ensures clinical orientation for new faculty  
  • Collect and review quarterly clinical site evaluations and make recommendations based on data
  • Visit local contracted facilities/liaison once per quarter to maintain collaborative relationship
  • Helps maintain NHS office coverage as needed
  • Attend Nursing and Joint Faculty Committee meetings, serve as back-up recording secretary
  • Is an active participant in department events
  • Is a member of Student & Alumni Issues Committee
  • Assist Dean and Program Directors in various tasks as needed 
  • Coordinate annual Job Fair and ongoing recruitment events

Clinical Contact Manager

  • Maintains contact with all clinical facilities.
  • Stays current with contact people and appropriate signatures for all clinical contracts.
  • In collaboration with the office manager, generates new clinical contracts and obtains signatures.

Administrative / Faculty Support

  • Assist in providing support to faculty, students and applicants as needed in the absence of the Office Manager and/or Admissions/Progression Coordinator.
  • Organize new student orientation in collaboration with the office Manager, admissions coordinator, and pre-nursing nursing success advisor.
  • Maintain collegial relationships with Nursing faculty and staff
  • Participate in faculty and/or departmental meetings
  • Participate and provide staff support to the Student and Alumni Issues Committee 
  • Attend nursing and Join Faculty Committee Meetings and be recording secretary for Nursing faculty meetings.
  • Assists in preparation and production of accreditation/approval self-studies.

Student Support

  • Tracks nursing student CPR and any non-health-related clinical clearance documents. Initiates clinical clearance emails according to program timeline.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree from accredited University (preferred) 
  • Prior experience coordinating clinical sites (preferred)
  • Prior experience organizing, planning, and coordinating complex task with multiple levels of complexity (preferred)
