Position summary

The School of Business Administration is seeking an Accounting Professor who is committed to excellence in teaching undergraduate and graduate students for careers in accounting, auditing and other related fields. This is a fulltime appointment with faculty teaching 3 to 4 courses per semester. Faculty are expected to maintain a regular on-campus presence for teaching, office hours, meetings and engagement activities. 

Duties and responsibilities

Teach undergraduate and graduate accounting courses in face-to-face and online modalities, including:

  • Principles of Accounting I & II
  • Accounting for Decision Making
  • Introduction to Taxation
  • Accounting Information Systems
  • Accounting for Not-for-Profit Organizations
  • Intermediate Managerial Accounting with Data Analytics
  • Data Analytics for Accounting

Annual review of accounting curriculum

Periodic international teaching may be required

Assigned committees (after first year)

Research and publications

Academic advising

Possible consulting

Supervisory responsibilities

Oversight of Principles of Accounting labs.

Student internships and projects

Sponsor of the Accounting, Economics & Finance Club

Technical competencies

Advanced Excel

Power BI or Tableau, other data analytics tools and/or willing to learn

Familiar with online learning systems like Moodle, MyBusinessCourse, and/or willing to learn

Interpersonal interactions

Interact with students in an advisory role

Be a team player

Be able to embrace the diversity of cultures represented at Andrews University

Evidence of ability to contribute to the Adventist culture of our school, college, university and community.

Physical demands

Physical abilities as needed to fulfill teaching responsibilities

Work environment

Normal office and classroom environment

Evening courses are required

Required Experience

Minimum - Master’s degree in accountancy or related disciplines required (a minimum of 18 graduate-level accounting credits) and willingness to pursue a doctorate.

Preferred - PhD in Accounting or related discipline.

Preferred – Professional certification (eg. CPA, CMA, CFE, CIA or equivalent)

Preferred - 5 years’ work experience in Accounting or related field or teaching Accounting.

Current with the best practices of the profession

Excellent verbal and written communications skills

Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing
