Position summary

A Postdoctoral position is available at Andrews University to do research in space physics.  Projects include wide-ranging phenomena at the Sun and planetary magnetospheres and ionospheres, including KH instabilities, solar wind-magnetosphere coupling, magnetosphere-ionosphere coupling, ionospheric scintillations, solar cycle and flare dynamics, plasma transport and circulation in the magnetospheres of the Earth, Jupiter, and Saturn.  Our research is characterized by a strong integration of theory, modeling, and observations. 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Perform research in accordance with the grant requirements
  • Preparing materials for presentation and publication
  • Work with the research team

Supervisory responsibilities

Training and supervision of undergraduate research students

Technical competencies

  • Proficiency in spoken presentations and writing for publication in English
  • Programming skills preferred

Interpersonal interactions

Ability to work well in the team

Physical demands

Need to be able to work at a computer.

Work environment

Normal office environment

Required Experience

PhD in physics, engineering, or related field

Research experience including publications in one of the following fields: wide-ranging phenomena at the Sun and planetary magnetospheres and ionospheres, including KH instabilities, solar wind-magnetosphere coupling, magnetosphere-ionosphere coupling, ionospheric scintillations, solar cycle and flare dynamics, plasma transport and circulation in the magnetospheres of the Earth, Jupiter, and Saturn

Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
