Milo Adventist Academy is a boarding secondary school nestled in the foothills of the Cascade mountain range in Oregon. The beautiful natural surroundings favor a balanced development of body, mind and spirit for staff as well as students. The 400+ acres of campus, including forest, orchards, fields, and vineyards, provide many varied opportunities for students to learn practical, hands-on skills and a healthy work ethic.
Located 23 miles from the nearest town, and an hour from one of any size, the school’s remote location is a blessing in many ways. At the same time, the friendships formed with the foreign students from several continents who attend MAA help students broaden their understanding of God’s love for all His children.
The 24/7 nature of making the boarding academy experience a home away from home for students also increases the impact of student-staff interactions, as staff have the opportunity to mentor and guide students both inside and outside of the normal school day. The high staff/student ratio provides additional opportunity for individualized attention.
Students learn the joy of serving others in events such as Neighbor Days and opportunities to go on mission trips, and also in campus jobs such as tutors in the dormitories, student chaplains, student body leadership, and student work leaders.
Milo has a strong family feel, shown in the passion and dedication of our staff, and the joy of fellowship we experience with each other. These attributes contribute to the low recent staff turnover. We continue to pursue excellence and grow together. Milo is currently using the High Reliability Schools model to structure our growth in both school culture and academic areas.
We are seeking a principal beginning with the ’26-’27 school year who will be excited by the potential of MAA’s many resources to create an environment where students can grow into healthy adults who will make Christ the center of their lives, and where staff are led in a collaborative team that encourages each member to flourish and build their God-given gifts.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a boarding-school environment, as well as experience in Educational Administration at the secondary level. Skills and qualities which are considered essential for an MAA principal include these:
