The Human Resource Director will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies and activities of the Human Resource department, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the University's mission and talent strategy.
- Collaborates with senior leadership to understand the University's goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention. Reports to the Vice President of Financial Administration.
- Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the University's human resource compliance and strategy needs
- Administers or oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development
- Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management
- Monitors and ensures the University's compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies polices and practices to maintain compliance
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice and resources to upper management
- Is knowledgeable about the Adventist Retirement plan and submits retirement applications to Adventist Retirement for retirees. Coordinates on-campus and virtual educational events with Adventist Retirement.
- Serves as the Human Resource representative on all search committees seeking new hires
- Works closely with the Risk Management manager, especially on workers compensation cases
- Chairs the Staff Advisory and Grievance Committee and Mentor Program Committee; co-chairs the Staff Development Committee; is a member on the Crisis Team Committee, Strategic Planning Committee, and Budget Planning Committee
- Distributes training and tracks completion rates for Title IX compliance
- Provides oversight to the student labor program in coordination with the Student Success Program
- Perform other duties as required
