  • Serve as Program Director for the Religion Program. These responsibilities include ability to work with budgets and finances, manage staff, serve on various university committees, conduct program meetings, recruit and manage adjunct professors, and manage course loads and assignment of courses. Various other administrative duties.
  • Provide oversight for the SALT program.
  • Meet and conduct assigned classes in a professional manner
  • Skills in teaching applied or practical Theology courses are desired, along with strong written and oral communication skills. Courses currently assigned to this position include Encountering Jesus as Savior, Biblical Preaching, Youth Leadership Internships, Church Leadership, and Prophetic Guidance in the Adventist Movement. This position also runs the Leadership in Ministry Internship Experience which includes four classes. The specific class mix may be adjusted based on skills and interests. There are a variety of other courses a teacher may teach, depending on training, ability, and interest.
  • The advisor role - providing academic, professional, and spiritual advice as appropriate is critical for program faculty. Approximately 8-10 students are assigned as advisees to each faculty member. 
  • As teachers, faculty are responsible for planning courses that include the desired elements at the appropriate level of difficulty. As noted in the mission statement, the program intentionally chooses to mix theory and practice in the classroom as appropriate. 
  • Supervise the SALT Program.
  • Actively recruit through individual and small group meetings with prospective students visiting campus, helping with Preview Days events, sending notes and emails, and being on-call for part of the summer. Keep appropriate office hours, attendance at program, faculty, and university-wide meetings and committees.
Required Experience
  • Must be currently authorized to work lawfully in the United States. 
  • PhD degree or on track to complete one in the near future from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Candidate must be ordained or commissioned to the ministry in the Seventh-day Adventist Church or on an ordination/commission track, with a valid denominational ministerial license/credential.
