High School Teacher

Amazing Grace Academy in Palmer, AK
North Pacific Union Conference | Alaska Conference of SDA
Description

Amazing Grace Academy (AGA) is seeking an energetic, full-time high school teacher for the 2026-2027 school year and beyond.  The ideal candidate will be qualified to teach in more than one subject area or have a willingness to continue education to acquire NAD certification in the needed subjects. We have a flexible and multi-talented staff, so the course load will be divided based on the strengths, qualifications, and expertise of our teachers. Subject areas to be covered could include Math, English, History, PE, or Concert Band, depending on your gifts.

We anticipate an enrollment of up to 15 high school students.  Our teaching team consists of one full time dedicated high school teacher, a part time teacher for science, and upper grade elementary teachers who are able to help with high school classes.

At AGA, we believe education happens both in and out of the classroom, but you won't be doing it alone. While our high school program includes vibrant traditions—like outdoor retreats, monthly service projects, intramurals, and worship leadership—these responsibilities are shared across our staff. With programs and experiences as well as academics, our school has a "team-first" environment where we divide these roles based on your specific strengths, gifts, and interests. Whether you have a passion for leading a worship team or a knack for organizing a school service project, we work together to ensure no one carries the load alone. Furthermore, if you have a unique hobby or a new idea for a student program, we are eager to provide the support and resources to help you bring it to life. The ideal candidate would be a team player ready to help us make these programs a success.

With almost 100  students, this Pre-K-12th grade school is eager to grow and expand the high school program and recently gained full high school accreditation. AGA and the Palmer SDA Church are neighbors in the same building with strong support and involvement from the pastor, church board, and church members. The school body includes a large portion of very supportive community families as well.  The school faculty and staff work very closely together to support each other in a positive team environment.

The school is in the beautiful Matanuska-Susitna Valley in Palmer, Alaska, with stunning views of the mountains from the front door. Abundant opportunities for outdoor recreation, wildlife, and outdoor activities can supplement the classroom experience and your personal life. Close to hiking, snow skiing, snowshoeing, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, and endless options for photography, Amazing Grace Academy is an ideal location for someone who loves the beauty of nature.

By the way, it isn’t dark all day in the winter here!  Our shortest days are only one hour shorter than Seattle.  We are one hour from Anchorage and the airport.  This is an awesome place to work and play!

Required Experience

The ideal candidate is an energetic, warm and caring, qualified and competent teacher who is experienced with teens and ready to share Jesus in the exciting ministry of education. Strong organizational skills, positive and frequent communication with parents, and academic competence  is required.

Candidates must be:

  • Active members in the Seventh-day Adventist Church valuing a strong relationship with Jesus
  • Models of an Adventist lifestyle
  • Authorized to work in the United States.

If you are seeking an opportunity in teaching where you can make a great difference for Christ while living in a beautiful location with endless potential for adventure, we would love to talk to you!
