Battle Creek Academy in Battle Creek, MI
Lake Union Conference | Michigan Conference
Description

Battle Creek Academy (BCA)—the flagship school of Adventist Education in Michigan—is seeking applications for a High School Science Instructor for the 2026–2027 school year. BCA is a K–12 day school supported by three constituent Seventh-day Adventist churches and is committed to academic excellence, faith integration, and the holistic development of every student.

We seek a knowledgeable, dynamic, and mission-driven educator who is passionate about engaging learners in scientific inquiry, cultivating intellectual rigor, and inspiring a lifelong curiosity about God’s created world.

About Our Community

Battle Creek—often called the “Cereal City”—is home to the WK Kellogg Company and Post Consumer Brands and is rich in both American and Adventist heritage. A key stop on the Underground Railroad, the city later became home to abolitionist Sojourner Truth and played a foundational role in the early development of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Founded in 1872, Battle Creek Academy was the first denominationally sponsored Seventh-day Adventist school. Its scenic 40-acre campus is located less than a mile from the Historic Adventist Village and just over an hour from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan.

The surrounding region offers abundant cultural and recreational opportunities, including Lake Michigan beaches, the Field of Flight Air Show & Hot Air Balloon Festival, Binder Park Zoo, Kellogg Bird Sanctuary, and Kellogg Forest—inviting students and families alike to explore God’s second book: nature.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Be a collaborative educator and effective communicator who works collegially with faculty, students, and families
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of rigorous, standards-based Science instruction, sound pedagogy, and Seventh-day Adventist educational philosophy

  • Engage students through project-based learning, laboratory investigations, field experiences, and public presentations that require analysis, precision, and clear expression

  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners while maintaining high academic expectations for all students
  • Purposefully utilize instructional technology to enhance research, collaboration, creativity, and student engagement
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback and maintain accurate assessment records that inform instruction and clearly communicate student progress to students and families
  • Collaborate with colleagues through curriculum planning, professional learning communities, and school-wide initiatives to strengthen instructional coherence and student outcomes
