Role Description

The Missionary Accountant is responsible for managing the school's financial records in an accurate, transparent, and ethical manner, in harmony with Seventh-day Adventist principles. This full-time position oversees budgeting, financial reporting, payroll processing, accounts payable and receivable, and ensures proper documentation and compliance with organizational policies.

The Accountant works closely with school administration to support financial planning and responsible stewardship of resources, providing timely reports to school leadership and governing bodies. Additionally, the Accountant may also teach related subjects to students, such as basic accounting, business, or finance courses, depending on the school's needs.

As a missionary role, the Accountant is expected to uphold integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism while supporting the mission and spiritual values of the school and engaging positively with staff, parents, and the local community.

Required Experience

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles, bookkeeping, and financial reporting
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and ethical responsibility
  • Willingness to serve in a missionary capacity and support the values and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church
  • Ability to work collaboratively with school administration, staff, and the local community
  • Fluency in English
  • Preferred: background or experience in accounting, finance, or business administration, ideally in a school or nonprofit setting
  • Preferred: experience in teaching or mentoring students in related subjects such as basic accounting, business, or finance
  • Preferred: ability to adapt to island living and work harmoniously within the local culture
  • Preferred: familiarity with SDA financial and administrative practices
  • Preferred: strong interpersonal skills

Additional Information

Lodging will be provided with basic home furnishings and cleaning supplies. Wi-Fi is available in both the classrooms and apartments. Ten percent (10%) of salary will be deducted for rent, with an additional $20 for utilities.
