Ozark Adventist Academy (OAA) is a boarding academy committed to academic excellence, spiritual growth, and whole-person development.  Our faculty play a vital role not only in the classroom, but also in mentoring students and supporting a positive campus and dorm culture.  We are seeking a dynamic, spiritually committed social studies instructor for the ’26-’27 school year.   The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching social studies courses from a thoughtful, balanced perspective while actively supporting the mission of Adventist education.

Responsibilities

Instructional Duties:

  • Teach high school social studies courses, including but not limited to world history, United States history, government, and economics
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that reflect a Biblical worldview and meet NAD curriculum standards
  • Foster a classroom environment that promotes academic rigor, critical thinking, historical inquiry, creativity, and respect 
  • Assess student learning and provide timely, constructive feedback
  • Use MAP data to develop strategies that can be applied in the social studies curriculum that will expand students' academic growth
  • Maintain accurate records for grades, attendance, and communication with students and parents

Campus Life & Supervision:

  • Participate in school activities, including one evening of supervision per week, plus occasional weekend supervision
  • Serve as a class or club sponsor, mentoring students through leadership development and supporting spiritual and social growth as they plan events
  • Engage in school-wide events, assemblies, weeks of prayer, and special events

Professional & Spiritual Expectations:

  • Uphold the mission and values of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and Ozark Adventist Academy
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to create a safe, respectful, and Christ-centered learning environment
  • Demonstrate strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, communicating clearly and professionally with parents/guardians, colleagues, and administrators
  • Attend and contribute to faculty meetings, committees, and ongoing professional development
  • Serve as a spiritual role model and actively participate in worship services and campus ministry activities
Required Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in History, Social Studies, Education, or a related field
  • Denominational certification or the ability to obtain NAD teaching certification
  • Committed member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in good standing

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree and/or additional endorsements in history, social studies, or education
  • Experience teaching at a boarding academy
  • Prior experience teaching high school social studies, as well as dual-credit, college-level social studies courses
  • Ability to speak and teach an additional language
