Andrews Academy (AA) is seeking a Vice Principal who will serve as a spiritual and academic leader in support of students, families, faculty, and staff. Initially, the selected candidate will teach an assigned course load. This dual-role position (Teaching-Vice Principal) combines classroom teaching (two to three classes per semester) with key leadership responsibilities, including oversight of spiritual life, academics, student life, and school operations. Reporting directly to the principal, the Vice Principal collaborates on the implementation of the school’s mission, budget, programs, and academic goals, while actively engaging in the daily life and development of the Academy.

 

Duties and responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other administrative duties may be assigned.

Administrative

  • Serves as the administrative officer at AA in the Principal’s absence.
  • Collaborates and shares administrative responsibilities with the principal in chaperoning class/club activities and trips. Together they may delegate said chaperonage as appropriate.
  • Engages and participates at faculty meetings, graduation and other official academy functions specified by the principal.
  • Assists the principal in:
    • Developing and maintaining annual class schedules.
    • Planning and organizing faculty and staff professional development
    • Conducting annual performance faculty and staff evaluations
    • Compiling and analyzing school data and trends
    • Overseeing technology integration across school operations.
    • Strengthening community relations and parent engagement.
    • Ensuring continuous school improvement and compliance and accreditation standards.

Marketing, Development and Recruitment

  • Collaborates with the principal in developing local and international marketing, recruitment, and registration strategies.
  • Develops and plans the annual alumni program in collaboration with the Principal.
  • Plans and coordinates annual activities for Ruth Murdoch Elementary School, and other SDA elementary schools and public-school students.

Academic

  • Collaborates with the principal in planning and developing AA’s curriculum.
  • Actively participates in the curriculum committee.
  • Collaborates closely with the Registrar in all aspects of student registration including domestic/international applications. Engaged in reviewing and approving student applications. Keeping the principal informed of problematic or concerning application issues that may arise.
  • Works closely with the school’s guidance counselor identifying testing needs for academic placement.

Student Life

  • Oversee student life activities which include supervising the planning, development and coordination of teacher/parent sponsorship teams.
  • Coordinates social activities for the academic year with Student Association.
  • Lead & sponsor AA Student Association (SA)
  • Organizes the annual new student orientation.
  • Oversees discipline, attendance and crisis management in alignment with school policies and the student  code of conduct.
Required Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education required; Master’s degree in School Administration preferred.
  • Current teaching and/or administrative certification (state or denominational).
  • Minimum of five years of successful secondary teaching experience; administrative experience preferred.
  • Training or certification in school leadership strongly preferred.
