Laurel Oaks Adventist School is seeking a spiritually grounded, visionary Teaching Principal to lead our Christ-centered school community. 

Entering its 49th year of operation, Laurel Oaks serves 35 students on a beautifully landscaped 6½-acre campus and is supported by the New Haven Seventh-day Adventist Church.

About Our School

  • Three-teacher, multi-grade classroom model
  • Full-time office manager/teacher’s assistant
  • Grade groupings:
    • Pre-K & Kindergarten
    • Grades 1–4
    • Grades 5–8
  • Strong emphasis on spiritual growth, academic excellence, and community engagement

Position Overview

The Teaching Principal serves as both instructional leader and spiritual shepherd of the school community. This role requires collaboration with faculty, leadership of academic initiatives, and active partnership with the school board and constituent church.

Required Experience

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in education
  • Current NAD Adventist Certification
  • Several years of successful classroom experience
  • Leadership experience
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Demonstrated spiritual leadership consistent with Adventist education philosophy
  • Current baptized member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States

Salary and benefits are based on the denominational wage scale and policy.

  • Provide leadership in spiritual development and academic excellence
  • Collaborate with multi-grade teachers while maintaining clear direction
  • Foster a safe, nurturing, and mission-driven school culture
  • Maintaining positive working relationships with parents
  • Strengthening community and church relationships
  • Work closely with the school board through reports, strategic planning, and governance activities
