Description

Reading Junior Academy is seeking a committed, Christ-centered, and visionary Teaching Principal to provide spiritual, instructional, and administrative leadership beginning in the 2026–2027 school year. Serving approximately 78 students in grades Kindergarten through 10, Reading Junior Academy offers a nurturing, mission-driven learning environment where faith, academic excellence, and character development are integrated into daily instruction. 

Located in the beautiful city of Reading, Pennsylvania, the school serves a vibrant and diverse community, offering a rich multicultural experience that reflects the global mission of Seventh-day Adventist education. Reading Junior Academy is supported by committed constituent churches, an engaged school board, and a strong partnership with the Pennsylvania Conference Office of Education. 

As a Teaching Principal, the successful candidate will serve both as an instructional leader and classroom teacher, providing leadership that strengthens the school’s spiritual mission, academic quality, and long-term sustainability. 

The Teaching Principal will be expected to: 

  • Serve as the spiritual leader of the school, modeling Seventh-day Adventist values and fostering a Christ-centered environment 
  • Provide instructional leadership, including curriculum oversight, teacher supervision, evaluation, coaching, and professional development 
  • Deliver high-quality classroom instruction appropriate to assigned grade level(s), using effective and engaging teaching strategies 
  • Foster strong partnerships with parents, churches, the school board, and the broader community 
  • Lead intentional enrollment growth and retention efforts through outreach, relationship-building, and school promotion 
  • Manage daily school operations, ensuring a safe, organized, and effective learning environment 
  • Oversee school improvement initiatives aligned with Conference and accreditation standards 
  • Ensure compliance with Pennsylvania Conference, Columbia Union, and North American Division policies and procedures 
  • Support a positive school culture grounded in collaboration, trust, accountability, and continuous improvement 
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with students, staff, families, and Conference leadership 
  • Lead strategic planning efforts that support the mission, growth, and long-term sustainability of the school 
Required Experience

Candidates must: 

  • Be an active member in good and regular standing of the Seventh-day Adventist Church 
  • Be legally eligible to reside and work in the United States 
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in education or a related field 
  • Hold or be eligible to obtain Seventh-day Adventist denominational certification 
  • Demonstrate a clear commitment to the philosophy and mission of Seventh-day Adventist education 
  • Demonstrate strong instructional and classroom management skills 
  • Demonstrate strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills 

Preferred qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Education or Educational Leadership
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred to effectively serve and communicate with the school’s diverse community.
