Description

Decatur Adventist Junior Academy (DAJA), located in Stone Mountain, Georgia, just outside the Atlanta metropolitan area, is seeking a dynamic, spiritually grounded, and highly effective instructional leader to serve as a full-time, non-teaching Principal.

This is a principal (non-teaching) leadership role, designed to allow full focus on instructional leadership, staff development, enrollment growth, and school improvement.

DAJA serves over 85 students from grades K-8 and is supported by 5 full-time teachers and several additional auxiliary faculty and staff. The school is lovely, and classrooms are fully equipped and intentionally designed to provide a warm, nurturing, and academically engaging environment for all scholars.

As Instructional leader, the principal is expected to: 

  • Lead and monitor high-quality teaching and learning aligned with NAD curriculum standards
  • Implement and support standards-based instruction and data-driven decision-making
  • Conduct regular classroom observations, coaching, and evaluations
  • Analyze student achievement data (MAP Growth, internal assessments) to drive improvement
  • Lead Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and ongoing instructional development

The principal serves as the chief instructional and spiritual leader of the school, responsible for the overall administration, academic program, faculty supervision, student achievement, and alignment with the mission of Seventh-day Adventist education.

 

Required Experience
  • Christian and member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in regular standing
  • Master’s degree in Educational Leadership or related field (Doctorate preferred)
  • Valid teaching certification and/or eligibility for Professional NAD certification
  • Minimum of 4–6 years of successful teaching and administrative experience
  • Hold a master’s degree (preferred) in Education or a related field, with current NAD and/or state certification, or willingness to work toward achieving certification.
  • Be digitally confident and computer savvy. 
  • Have experience or training in STEM instruction, encouraging curiosity, problem-solving, and joyful exploration
  • Demonstrate the ability to reach students with diverse learning styles, meeting each child where they are and helping them grow
