Athletic Director/Gymnastics Coach Description

Our organization is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Athletic Director Physical Education Coach who is passionate about developing athletes in both their physical abilities and their personal character.  This role is ideal for someone who love the mentoring young people in an environment that values excellence, integrity, and spiritual growth.

About the Role

The Athletic Director/Gymnastics Coach will help students develop lifelong fitness habits, motor skill, teamwork, and a positive attitude toward physical activity.  They will design and deliver engaging PE lessons, promote health and wellness, and create a safe, inclusive environment for all learners.  They will organize and lead out the intramurals programming on our campus.  Finally, they will develop and lead IA's Aerials' gymnastics programming.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and teach age-appropriate physical education lessons aligned with curriculum standards.  Demonstrate proper techniques for sports, fitness activities, and movement skills.
  • Provide high-quality technical instruction across all gymnastics events and levels.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of training techniques, safety protocols, and best practices.
  • Adapt coaching methods to meet the unique needs, abilities, and learning styles of each athlete.
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with athletes, parents, and staff.
  • Foster a positive, encouraging, and spiritually supportive training environment.
  • Model a character, humility, and perseverance in alignment with our faith-based mission.
  • Maintain a safe environment by enforcing rules and monitoring student behavior.  Inspect equipment and facilities regularly to ensure safety.
  • Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and positive social interaction.  Encourage students to set personal fitness goals and track progress.
  • Support students in developing confidence, resilience, and healthy habits.
  • Evaluate student performance using clear, objective criteria.  Maintain accurate attendance, grading, and progress records.
  • Communicate with parents, teachers, and administrators about student progress.
  • Assist with school-wide wellness initiatives, field days, and extracurricular activities.
  • Collaborate with staff to integrate physical activity into the broader school culture.

Required Experience

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or related field
  • Experienced with working in a gymnastics program.  Coaching experience is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of technique, conditioning, and athlete development
  • Ability to create a safe, structured, and motivating training environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to modeling Christian values and supporting the spiritual growth of athletes
  • Dedication, reliability, and a genuine passion for helping young people thrive
  • CPR/First Aid certification a plus
