Southern Adventist University invites applications for an in-person faculty position in the School of Social Work, in residence. The ideal candidate will have the expertise to teach a range of social work and sociology courses, through in person, online, and hybrid teaching methods. 

We invite persons whose innovative ideas and research interests will support students’ learning of practice, policies, and transformational interventions to enhance quality of human life and well-being and promote social service within a Seventh-day Adventist Christian educational environment.

Required Experience
  • Required to hold a MSW degree from a CSWE accredited program and at least two years of full-time, post-master’s professional social work experience. 
  • Hold a PhD or doctorate degree in social work or related discipline. Applicants who are in the final stages of their doctoral program will be considered, contingent upon successful completion of the degree within 6 months of the start date, or have a strong documented plan for degree completion.
  • A minimum of 18 completed graduate credits in sociology preferred.
  • A degree in theology or SDA religious studies is a plus. 
  • Teaching experience in social work at the BSW and/or MSW levels.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
