Job Summary

The assistant women’s residence hall dean works with the head dean in the dormitory program in supervision, mentorship, coordinating worships, communicating regularly with parents, and fostering a healthy and safe living environment.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the oversight of all aspects of dorm life for 9th to 12th grade students in the women’s residence hall
  • Provide dorm worships and spiritual mentoring for residents
  • Provide communication with dorm students’ parents as directed by head dean
  • Assist in the supervision of resident assistants and other student workers
  • Maintain a safe and positive living environment that enhances student development and learning
  • Provide consistency in the implementation and observance of policies, standards, interactions, and best practices for residence life
  • Be available to female students to address their concerns and issues, and make counseling referrals when such referrals are deemed necessary
  • In coordination with administration and the head dean, assist in crisis response and risk management 
  • Participate and contribute in broader student life programs, events, and initiatives
  • Foster an educational environment of excellence where students, faculty, and staff pursue a shared quest: To know Jesus as Savior and Friend, to love God and those He brings into our lives, to serve the church and society
  • Other duties as assigned

     
Required Experience

 

Qualifications

  • Demonstrate a commitment to Jesus Christ, the teachings and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church; be a Seventh-day Adventist church member in regular standing with a desire to serve in a cooperative, spiritually redemptive, and soul-winning atmosphere; serve as a Christian example and role model
  • Relate well to all students, parents, superiors, and the public
  • Bachelor degree in education, social work, or related field 
  • Have successful experience at the secondary and/or collegiate level as a residence hall assistant dean, RA, or summer camp staff
  • Employee will hold membership at the Georgia-Cumberland Academy Seventh-day Adventist Church
  • Write and speak English fluently
  • Must demonstrate strong technology skills
