Description

A 3rd/4th grade combo class teacher to instructs split-grade classroom, delivering differentiated curricula to meet specific, separate standards for both grades. Key responsibilities include creating a blended, collaborative, or rotating instructional environment, training students for high independence (seatwork), and implementing balanced literacy and math instruction to manage a diverse range of learning abilities. 

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Curriculum Planning: Develop lesson plans that integrate 3rd and 4th-grade standards, using similar units for science and social studies while differentiating literacy and math instruction.
  • Differentiated Instruction: Manage, instruct, and assess students on two separate sets of grade-level expectations.
  • Independent Work Management: Create a structured environment where one grade works independently while the other receives direct instruction.
  • Classroom Management: Establish strict routines for classroom procedures (e.g., asking for help, turning in work) to maximize learning time.
  • Assessment & Reporting: Monitor, evaluate, and report student progress in all key learning areas.
  • Differentiated Assessment: Use different rubrics or expectations to evaluate the same assignment based on the student's grade level.
  • Collaboration: Work with other 3rd/4th grade teachers to share resources, plan field trips, and align curriculum.
  • Social-Emotional Support: Cultivate a nurturing environment that supports the wide social development range between 3rd and 4th graders. 
Required Experience

Third & Fourth grade Elementary School Teacher. Full-time. Calexico Mission School is seeking a caring, creative, energetic, and collaborative individual. Interested individuals should be knowledgeable about the best practices for primary grades and standards-based instruction. In addition, the ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to nurturing elementary students spiritually, academically, and socially and a personal lifestyle in keeping with SDA principles. Applicants must have at least a bachelor’s degree and NAD teacher’s certification with an endorsement in elementary education.
