Position Summary

Bakersfield Adventist Academy is seeking a passionate, spiritually grounded, and student-centered individual to serve as a Bible and Spanish Teacher. The successful candidate will support the mission of Seventh-day Adventist education by fostering academic excellence, spiritual growth, and Christ-centered relationships within the classroom and school community.

The teacher will provide engaging instruction in Bible and Spanish courses while mentoring students in their faith development, character formation, and academic success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Bible Instruction

  • Teach Bible classes aligned with Seventh-day Adventist beliefs, values, and educational philosophy.
  • Integrate faith and learning throughout instruction and classroom activities.
  • Encourage students in spiritual growth, discipleship, service, and Christian leadership.
  • Lead classroom worships, prayer, and spiritual discussions.
  • Support the spiritual life of the campus through participation in chapels, weeks of prayer, mission trips, and outreach activities.

Spanish Instruction

  • Teach Spanish courses using effective language acquisition strategies and engaging instructional practices.
  • Develop students’ speaking, listening, reading, and writing proficiency in Spanish.
  • Incorporate cultural understanding and appreciation into language instruction.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the varying academic levels and learning needs of students.

General Teaching Responsibilities

  • Develop lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards and school expectations.
  • Maintain a positive, safe, and Christ-centered classroom environment.
  • Monitor and communicate student progress effectively with parents and administration.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, technology, and assessments to support student learning.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to support school improvement initiatives and student success.
  • Participate in school functions, faculty meetings, committees, and extracurricular activities as assigned.
  • Maintain professional growth through ongoing professional development and training.
Required Experience

Qualifications

  • Active membership in the Seventh-day Adventist Church in regular standing.
  • Commitment to the philosophy and mission of Adventist education.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; emphasis in Theology, Religion, Spanish, Education, or related field preferred.
  • NAD Teaching credential or eligibility for denominational certification preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and church constituents.
  • Experience teaching Bible and/or Spanish at the secondary level preferred.
  • Demonstrated spiritual leadership and mentorship abilities.
  • Passion for ministry and working with young people.
  • Strong Christian role model both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Collaborative team player with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to engage students through creative and meaningful instruction.
  • Commitment to academic excellence and spiritual nurture.
