Description

Shenandoah Valley Academy is seeking a Christ-centered chaplain and Bible teacher who is passionate about sharing the gospel with our students and helping them to become disciples of Jesus. The candidate will be a practicing member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church with a strong commitment to SDA education and beliefs. The candidate will have the ability to connect with and mentor high school students in a boarding academy setting and display strong communication skills with students, staff, and parents.

Responsibilities

  • Cast and foster a campus-wide spiritual theme and vision for the campus
  • Coordinate the spiritual programming for the campus, including:
    • Vespers
    • Sabbath Schools
    • Weeks of Prayer
    • Student Bible Studies
    • Church Connect Program, in conjunction with church pastors
    • Chapels, in conjunction with administration
    • Annual Community Service Day
    • Other spiritual activities
  • Teach at least one Bible class (if Master’s level, then one dual-credit section of a course)
  • Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based instruction
  • Foster a positive, Christ-centered classroom environment
    • Participate in a supervision team
    • Supervise student workers
    • Collaborate with faculty and staff to support student success
Required Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in theology, Bible-education, religion, etc.; Master’s desired
  • Current NAD teacher certification in Bible
  • Trained or willing to become trained in the NAD Encounter Bible curriculum
  • Spiritual programming experience with youth preferred
  • Strong counseling and/or mediating skills also desired
