About our conference
The Northern California Conference (NCC) of Seventh-day Adventists is a dynamic and financially stable conference serving churches, schools, and ministries across a wide geographic area of Northern California. The NCC Office of Education is pleased to oversee a network of 30+ K-12 Adventist schools and preschools, each committed to Christ-centered education that nurtures the whole child — spiritually, academically, physically and socially. As part of the Pacific Union Conference, the NCC works hand-in-hand with church and education leaders at every level to strengthen and grow Adventist education throughout the region. We are a team that genuinely values our schools, thinks creatively when challenges arise, and is always looking for better ways to support the educators and communities we serve.
The NCC has several years of experience and a deep commitment to organizational health at all levels. This process has helped us articulate our mission clearly and align our goals with it.
Our Office of Education has demonstrated commitment to providing whatever services we can to help local schools thrive. To achieve that goal, our department includes superintendents as well as a cross-disciplinary team .
About this position
Each of our Associate Superintendents of Schools plays a vital role in supporting the health and growth of K-12 education across the NCC. This position assists in the recruitment, hiring, transfer, and termination of school personnel, and takes a lead role in coordinating the school accreditation and evaluation process for all K-12 schools in alignment with Pacific Union Conference standards.
Associate Superintendents serve as a direct resource to principals and school boards, monitor school finances and governance, and keep the Superintendent informed of emerging issues, potential problems, and legal concerns across assigned schools. A significant portion of this role involves active participation in a wide range of boards, committees, and councils — including the NCC Board of Education, Pacific Union Education Councils, NCC Principals' Council, and school boards across the conference. An Associate Superintendent also supports curriculum development, new teacher orientation, professional growth opportunities and in-service programming. Whether responding to urgent needs in the field or helping plan long-range initiatives in areas like facilities, personnel, and curriculum, this position requires both strategic thinking and a willingness to roll up one's sleeves.
Success in this role depends on a genuine love for people and a commitment to collaborative leadership. The Associate Superintendent must relate warmly and effectively to a diverse range of individuals — teachers, principals, parents, board members, and church communities — and thrive in a team-oriented environment. Creative thinking and adaptability are essential, as the work regularly involves navigating complex situations, finding fresh solutions to unexpected challenges, and meeting educators where they are — professionally and personally.
A Master's degree and SDA Administrative Credentials with Superintendent Endorsement are preferred, along with strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Applicants must have the legal right to work in the United States and be able to provide proof of such.
