Description

ASPIRE Academy (Adventist School Preparing, Instilling, and Redeeming for Eternity) is a technology-mediated elementary and secondary school operated by the Michigan Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. ASPIRE utilizes a technology-mediated educational approach that is interactive, based on live instruction, live student work, and meaningful interaction between students and teachers. ASPIRE currently serves grades 1–12 with a dedicated team, including a full-time principal and 9 full-time teachers. For the 2026–2027 school year, ASPIRE is seeking to fill a full-time 1st/2nd Grade teaching position.

Successful candidates will demonstrate a passion for early elementary education and a strong background in literacy and reading instruction. Candidates should understand the importance of foundational reading development and be skilled in supporting young learners in phonics, fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, handwriting, and written expression through engaging and differentiated instruction.

The ideal candidate will also possess the skills necessary to teach effectively in a live online classroom, creating a safe, joyful, and developmentally supportive environment that is sensitive to the individual learning needs of young children. Successful candidates will encourage active classroom participation to promote learning and engagement, establish strong relationships with students and parents, provide timely feedback on assignments and assessments, monitor student progress closely, communicate proactively with families, and collaborate effectively with colleagues. Candidates should also be comfortable utilizing educational technology tools to support literacy development and meaningful student interaction in an online learning environment.

Finally, a successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to the unique mission of Seventh-day Adventist education. The candidate should display a love for teaching young children, the ability to relate positively to students and parents, a collaborative spirit as a team member, and enthusiasm for the unique opportunity to lead an engaging and academically rich synchronous online classroom rooted in faith and excellence.


 

Required Experience

Qualifications & Requirements

  • BS or BA degree in Education
  • Strong background and/or experience in literacy and reading instruction preferred
  • Current NAD Certification
  • Salary and benefits are based on the denominational wage scale
  • Must have the legal right to work in the United States and provide evidence of that right if employed
  • Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing and believe in the principles of Adventist Education as outlined in the book Education
  • Must reside within the Michigan Conference
