Description

The coach is responsible for the achievement of excellent services in coaching, academic advising, academic support skills, and non-academic support tools for the TRIO SSS program. This individual will be a partner in implementing strategic initiatives aimed at increasing student retention, engagement, and graduation, as well as assuming programmatic support responsibilities.

Required Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field required; master’s degree preferred
  • 3 years of experience in higher education preferred
  • Holds or is able/willing to obtain life coach certification
  • Experience in teaching college-level courses and/or adults preferred
  • Ability to create and maintain good working relationships with students
  • Ability to work effectively with various university departments and strong communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations to assist their needs
  • Ability to effectively initiate, implement, coordinate, and assess programs and activities
  • Experience and knowledge of issues and challenges facing first-generation, low-income, students with disabilities and  underrepresented populations in higher education
  • Demonstrates a passion for helping students succeed
  • Possess strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Proficient with computer applications, with a thorough understanding of Microsoft Office suite and data management software
