Description

Shenandoah Valley Academy is seeking a Christ-centered, dynamic math teacher who is passionate about helping our students become disciples of Jesus. The candidate will be a practicing member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church with a strong commitment to SDA education and beliefs. The candidate will have the ability to connect with and mentor high school students in a boarding academy setting and display strong communication skills with students, staff, and parents.

Expectations

  • Ability to teach Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, and possibly higher-level math classes
  • Prepare and deliver engaging lessons in math that relate to real-world situations
  • Employ a variety of teaching techniques and learning strategies to reach a wide range of learners
  • Ability to connect math concepts with science, technology, and engineering (STEM)
  • Follow denominational and state standards in curricula, course content, and course materials
  • Evaluate and record student work in an effective, timely manner
  • Set adequate office hours and be available to advise, assist, and tutor students outside of class
  • Maintain student records, attendance, etc.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to support overall student success
  • Maintain professional demeanor and confidentiality
  • Actively work to build relationships with students inside and outside of the classroom
  • Facilitate open communication with students, parents, and staff
  • Support and uphold school policies inside and outside of the classroom
  • Participate in supervision, sponsorships, and other duties as assigned by the principal
Required Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s desired
  • Current NAD teacher certification in Math
  • Ability to work in the United States
