Description

Shenandoah Valley Academy is seeking a director for our Student Dream Management Program. The candidate will be passionate about sharing the gospel with our students and helping them to become disciples of Jesus. The candidate will be a practicing member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church with a strong commitment to SDA education and beliefs. The candidate will have the ability to connect with and mentor high school students in a boarding academy setting and display strong communication skills with students, staff, parents, and other stakeholders.

Expectations

  • Coordinate a formal four-year “DREAM Management” program.

    • A-Achieve Academic Readiness
    • M-Map a Meaningful Future
  • Help students articulate academic, career, and personal dreams and formulate plans to fulfill them
  • Guide students in understanding spiritual gifts and in seeking God’s will for their lives
  • Connect students with resources including tutors, mentors, and other academic support needed
  • Provide opportunities for career exploration, interest inventory assessment, and college visits and admissions
  • Organize Career Day, College Fair, and college visits
  • Coordinate standardized testing
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to support student success in all areas
  • Teach Life Skills, or other assigned class (preferably a freshman class)
  • Participate on a supervision team
  • Oversee and direct the library supervisor and student workers

 

 

Required Experience
  • Master’s degree in related area, education, counseling, etc.
  • Strong counseling and/or mediating skills also desired
