Responsibilities:

• Research, develop, and deliver engaging course content for a teaching load of 12 undergraduate credit hours per semester (typically four on-campus courses).
• Teach two online courses per semester.
• Advise Theology and Religion majors and minors.
• Maintain a minimum of 8 10 office hours per week to advise, guide, and mentor students, with particular attention to assigned advisees.
• Communicate with the Department Chair about expectations and duties. Coordinate the Pastoral Internship Program and provide pastoral mentorship to participating students throughout the Fall and Spring semesters.
• Organize and oversee the Field School of Evangelism for every summer term (typically 5 weeks) in conjunction with the Union and the 5 Union Conferences. Be an active member in good standing of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and demonstrate a strong commitment to Adventist Beliefs, Mission, Lifestyle, and Christian education.

Departmental Service

Departmental responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Advising and mentoring students.
• Collaborating with the Religion faculty on curriculum and program development.
• Participating in departmental, institutional, and university service activities as assigned.

Must have strongly expressed a commitment to Jesus Christ, the teachings and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, be a member of the Seventh-day Adventist church in good and regular standing, and have a desire to serve in a cooperative, spiritually redemptive, and soul-winning atmosphere.

Minimum Qualifications

The successful candidate must be an ordained minister in the Seventh-day Adventist Church with a minimum of eight (8) years of ministerial experience within the denomination. Candidates should demonstrate a humble, teachable spirit and a commitment to mentoring and working patiently and diligently with adult and young adult students.

Applicants must hold, at minimum, a Master of Divinity (MDiv) degree from an accredited institution or be actively pursuing a DMin degree. A Doctor of Ministry (DMin) degree is preferred. However, candidates who have a comparable doctoral-level ministry program are also encouraged to apply.

Preferred Experience and Responsibilities

The individual selected for this position will teach courses and lead programs designed to prepare the next generation of ministers for the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The ideal candidate will demonstrate experience and expertise in the areas of:

• Evangelism
• Homiletics (Preaching)
• Seventh-day Adventist Church structure, governance, leadership, and organization.

The successful candidate should have a passion for ministerial education, spiritual formation, and leadership development, with the ability to effectively equip students for pastoral ministry within the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

• A strong commitment to Seventh-day Adventist beliefs, values, and mission
• The ability to engage students in public evangelism, personal evangelism, and church administration.
• A willingness to implement evidence-based and effective teaching strategies.
• The ability to build meaningful relationships with students and monitor their academic progress to promote retention and success.
• A collaborative approach to working with departmental faculty and colleagues.
• Demonstrate strong biblical preaching skills and the ability to effectively teach and mentor students.

Work Conditions & Environment:

Job Conditions:

Occasional: Evening or weekend responsibilities for events, recruitment activities, committee assignments. Limited travel may be required for professional development, conferences, or university-related functions

Environment: Office and classroom setting with regular interaction with students, faculty , and staff

Work Hours: Standard university business hours (12 credit hours/Monday Friday), with teaching assignments. Additional hours may be required for meetings, grading, and service responsibilities (8-10 office hours per week).

Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as sitting, walking, typing, and standing for extended periods.
