About our School

Palau Mission Academy (PMA) is a co-educational secondary boarding school located in Ngerikiil, Airai, on the island of Babeldaob, Palau. Serving approximately 120 students in grades 9–12, PMA is a premier institution within the Guam-Micronesia Mission under the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists. What makes PMA truly unique is its holistic mission to restore God’s image in its students by balancing rigorous academics with spiritual mentorship. The campus culture is enriched by an international team of Student Missionaries and Staff who serve together to achieve our goal of preparing our students for a fulfilling life on earth and for eternal life.

Nature and Scope: A building and grounds maintenance worker maintain the school buildings, its grounds, and school vehicles ensuring full and productive use of the school’s facilities in a safe and clean manner. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: 

• Perform core cleaning activities, including sweeping, mopping, and dusting. 

• Ascertain that all surfaces are properly sanitized according to the policies of the school. 

• Erect warning signs for wet or polished floors, aiming to protect students and staff members from danger of slipping. 

• Check school building control panel, and electric wiring to identify issues, and ensure that any obvious ones are seen to immediately. 

• Conduct a wide variety of maintenance tasks, including changing bulbs and replacing light fixtures. 

• Inspect A/C units systems for problems or errors and troubleshoot them in an immediate manner. 

• Check the functionality of school bell system, including alarms (in any), and ensure that they are properly set and reset as required. 

• Perform minor fixes, including broken locks and damages to walls or windows. 

• Install necessary appliances and equipment, specifically in kitchens, cafeterias, and apartments. 

• Ascertain that any need for building repairs is communicated to the Principal. 

• Assist in the upkeep of school grounds, ensuring that they are made safe for students’ activities. 

• Maintain and clean bathrooms daily. 

• Drive and maintain school vehicles and/or the school bus. 

• Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal.

Performance Factors 

All work responsibilities are subject to having performance goals and/or targets established as part of the annual performance planning process or as the result of organizational planning. Some of those Goals/Targets will include: 

• Attendance and punctuality: The employee can be depended on to report to work at the scheduled time and is seldom absent from work. Employee can be depended upon to complete work in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner and is conscientious about assignments. 

• Communicates effectively in English, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis. 

• Wearing the armor of the Fruits of the Spirit, the employee exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others and works to maintain constructive working relationships. 

• The employee commits to be a life-long learner and sets measurable goals (short- and long-term) for both personal and professional development/growth.

Required Experience
  • Active SDA member in good standing  
  • Experience in any maintenance work - carpentry, plumbing,etc. 
  • Able to drive school bus
