High School Math Teacher

Griggs International Academy Online High School Math  Contract Teacher (Start Date September 25).

Teach two asynchronous (self-paced) online math classes.  The courses are already written and on the LMS.

  • Algebra 2
  • Survey of Math

These classes will be managed by a certified teacher and requires the teacher to have occasional 1:1 meetings (Discussion Based Assessments) with each student.  The hours are flexible, but must have time set aside appropriate time for these 10-15 minutes.  The qualifed candidate will be trained how to assess and interact with the students through the Learning Management System.

 

Required Experience
  • Valid SDA teaching professional certification/endorsement in Mathematics (secondary level)
  • Experience teaching Algebra 2 and other high school math classes
  • Comfortable teaching in an online environment
  • Willingness to take the ALC Course on teaching K-12 Online
  • Time to do 4-10 (15-minute) DBA sessions with individual students
  • Must live in the United States

Note:  Many Griggs teachers do teach fulltime in our NAD Schools and are able to serve these courses well.  It is a plus if you are already teaching math and know the NAD School systsem well.

Responsibilities:

  • Clarify instruction as needed, grade assignments, meet students 1:1 (twice per semester minimum) and provide feedback for students
  • Communicate regularly with students
  • Maintain accurate records in the learning management system

Griggs International Academy, an accredited Seventh-day Adventist online school, offers self-paced asynchronous classes K-12 with synchronous components. Certified teachers facilitate learning for online students, NAD schools, and international partners. Parents work with the elementary director to guide grades K-5, while students in grades 6-12 meet with Griggs teachers at designated times. Our Griggs Live events provide activities for all Griggs students and include small group workshops, chapel, mentor groups, worship, and academic success strategies.
