Atholton Adventist Academy is seeking a full-time PE teacher to join our team of committed, life-long learners, whose mission is to build genuine relationships and share the love of Jesus with the Atholton Adventist church school families.

Description: Atholton Adventist Academy (AAA), located in Columbia, Maryland, serves a culturally diverse community of over 200 students and 25 faculty and staff, majority holding advanced degrees and secondary certification. AAA provides a distinctively person-oriented educational environment dedicated to excellence and growth for pre-K through 10th grades, including international ESL students. AAA is moving to full academy status, partnering with Griggs APLE program to provide 11th grade this year and 11th and 12th for the 2023-2024 school year. Our location is accessible from Baltimore and Washington, D.C.  Atholton is surrounded with major Adventist institutions like the General Conference, North America Division, Columbia Union, Chesapeake Conference, Washington Adventist University, Adventist HealthCare White Oak and Shady Grove. AAA works closely with the Atholton Adventist Church in providing well-rounded academic and spiritual learning opportunities which lead to an eternal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Responsibilities as PE Teacher:

1. Plan and deliver engaging physical education lessons for students at varying grade levels.
2. Develop age-appropriate physical education curriculum aligned with national and state standards.
3. Assess student learning and provide constructive feedback to support their physical development.
4. Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages participation and active lifestyles.
5. Collaborate with colleagues to integrate physical education with other subject areas.
6. Communicate regularly with parents to discuss student progress and encourage involvement in physical activities outside of school.

Responsibilities as Athletic Director:

1. Plan and oversee the scheduling of athletic events and practices.
2. Recruit, train, and supervise coaches and staff for the athletic programs.
3. Ensure compliance with all school district, state, and national athletic regulations.
4. Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, coaches, and school administration.
5. Develop and manage budgets for athletic programs and equipment.

Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and healthy competition among student-athletes.

Qualifications:

• Committed spiritual leader who models Adventist principles and is involved in the church and school collaborative functions
• Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Sports Management, Education, or related field.
• Teaching certification/license in Physical Education.
• Previous experience in coaching or managing athletic programs.
• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
