Description

Village Adventist Elementary School is seeking a full-time administrator to lead the K-8 program.  Additionally, the school is considering opportunities for expansion so a candidate should embrace being part of a visionary community that is seeking to offer educational contexts that train the head, heart, and hand.  

Berrien Springs, Michigan, is the location of Andrews University and affords access to numerous academic, social, musical, and spiritual opportunities.  Berrien Springs is also a short drive to beautiful Lake Michigan as well as being part of Michigan's “fruit belt” with a variety of seasonal produce available.  

The Village Seventh-day Adventist Church is a vibrant and active church with numerous outreach mission initiatives as well as a plethora of events held at the church covering a variety of topics.  The church also participates heavily in being involved in and supporting, overseas missions.  The church believes that the school serves a vital role in the overarching mission of the church at large and provides the resources necessary for the school to carry forward a high-quality education to the students.

 

Required Experience

Applicants must be members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in good and regular standing.  They should embrace the principles of Adventist Education as reflected in the book, “Education” and embrace the very missional work that Adventist Education is to students and families.  Candidates should understand and value the importance of training young people to have a heart for service and outreach to the community.

Administrative candidates should also be familiar with excellence in instructional best practices and be able to foster excellence in the academic context in areas such as Standards Based Learning, Hands-on Learning, Cross-curricular collaboration, etc.

Preferred candidates will have comfort speaking publicly on behalf of the school and be personally articulate in conversations as the leader and representative for the school's program.

Candidates should embrace and espouse the value of the outdoors in the education of children and appreciate and value the unified work of the home, church, and school in the life of the student.  

Preferred candidates should have a depth of teaching experience in elementary, and additionally, secondary experience is desirable.  Prior administrative experience is also desired and a master's degree is also preferred.
