High School Life Sciences Teacher

Monterey Bay Academy in La Selva Beach, CA
Pacific Union Conference | Central California Conference
Description

Monterey Bay Academy seeks a high school Life Sciences teacher interested in marine biology to teach Biology, Marine Biology, Anatomy & Physiology, and Health and oversee the SCUBA certification class. With nearly a mile of private beachfront along the Central California coast, MBA boasts one of the most picturesque settings of any Adventist academy. The 380+ acre campus provides students with a quiet, rural setting, yet the school is close to every convenience the greater San Francisco Bay Area provides. It offers excellent shopping, arts, and entertainment, hiking under the mighty redwoods, surfing the Pacific’s legendary swell, and kayaking the peaceful tidal estuaries. Several international airports are within a short drive of campus. Generously subsidized campus housing is provided.

Required Experience

Candidates will be committed to the mission of Adventist Education, relish the opportunity to teach in a setting on the Central California coast, and thoroughly enjoy guiding high school students into a lifetime of learning.  Applicants must be active Seventh-day Adventist church members and eligible to work in the United States.  (Hold current work visa and residency in the US if not a US citizen.)

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications: 1) holds or is qualified to receive NAD teaching certification, Basic, Standard, or Professional, with a secondary subject area endorsement in Biology; 2) exhibit a willingness to support the implementation of Standard-Based Learning, Differentiated Instruction, and Project Based Learning in the classroom; 3) a can-do attitude and solid work ethic; 4) a positive, uplifting, and cooperative spirit; 5) shows passion for the development of young people and is on fire for Jesus Christ; 6) possesses the skills of organization, follow-through, and communication; 7) being bilingual in English and Spanish would be a plus.  Candidates with a Master’s degree or previous teaching experience in the marine sciences will be preferred.

The salary range for this position using the current scale is $49,294.03 to $61,175.95, based on North American Division certification, experience, and cost-of-living adjustments.

Please send a resume with a cover letter, a summary of your philosophy of education, at least three references with email and phone contacts, and a copy of your current certification (NAD and/or state).  Initial contact will be via email to jcorson@cccsda.org.  You will also be asked to complete an application form.
