Amazing Grace Academy (AGA) is seeking a full-time high school chaplain/teacher (theology background not required) for the 2024-2025 school year.  The ideal candidate would be excellent at connecting with students, encouraging them in leadership, discipleship for spiritual growth, and supporting them in their physical growth through inter-murals and extra curricular events and activities throughout the school year.  May include teaching additional subject areas such as computers, practical arts and doing tech support.  The high school course load and schedule will be divided between three full-time teachers determined by the qualifications and preferences of the teachers. 

School staff work together to divide the responsibilities with the high school retreat/outdoor experience, athletic intramurals, graduation, monthly service projects, quarterly vespers/worship, worship team leadership, student leadership, etc. depending on strengths and interests. The ideal candidate would be a team player ready to help us make these programs a success.

With just over 100 students, this Pre-K-12th grade school is growing and recently gained full high school accreditation. AGA and the Palmer SDA Church are neighbors in the same building with AGA receiving strong support and involvement from the pastor, church board, and church members. The school body includes a large portion of very supportive community families as well.  The school faculty and staff work very closely together to support each other in a positive team environment. 

The school is in the beautiful Matanuska-Susitna Valley in Palmer, Alaska, with stunning views of the mountains from the front door. Abundant opportunities for outdoor recreation, wildlife, and outdoor activities can supplement the classroom experience and your personal life. Close to hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, and endless options for photography, Amazing Grace Academy is an ideal location for someone who loves the beauty of nature.  

By the way, it isn’t dark all day in the winter here!  Our shortest days are only one hour shorter than Seattle.  We are one hour from Anchorage and the airport.  This is an awesome place to work and play!

Required Experience

The ideal candidate is a warm and caring, qualified and competent teacher who is experienced with teens and ready to share Jesus in the exciting ministry of education with a strong ability to connect well with students to build positive relationships. Strong organizational skills, positive and frequent communication with parents, and academic competence  is required.  

Candidates must be active members in the Seventh-day Adventist Church valuing a strong relationship with Jesus, modeling an Adventist lifestyle, and authorized to work in the United States.
